Hyundai is adding to its articulated dump truck (ADT) range, with the introduction of a four-wheeled, 45-tonne class model.

    The HA45A 4x4 uses a twin-rear-wheel layout to carry a 41-tonne payload, in a 25.7m3 dump body.

    The 4x4 ADT Specification

    • Six-cylinder diesel engine delivers 368kW and 2,476Nm of torque
    • Eight-speed electronically-controlled transmission with retarder
    • Spacious ROPS/FOPS cab offers excellent visibility from central seating position
    • Full suspension with self-levelling hydro-gas front and rear hydro-gas suspension
    • Front-mounted turning ring provides ideal weight distribution

With a successful line-up of three-axle ADTs, Hyundai is launching its first two-axle truck. Designed primarily for longer hauls, with better road conditions, the 4x4 truck is the ideal ADT for quarries and larger construction projects. The two-axle HA45A 4x4 delivers the speed and hauling efficiency of a rigid dump truck, with the added bad-weather and climbing capability of an all-wheel drive ADT.

    Advanced Suspension, Traction & Control

With self-levelling front and rear hydro-gas suspension, the truck delivers a comfortable ride that allows higher haul speeds than a typical six-wheel ADT. It is equipped with front and rear limited-slip differentials, along with a longitudinal diff that can be manually locked to ensure maximum traction in all operating conditions.

    Powertrain Performance & Braking Efficiency

Powered by a proven 368kW (500hp) Stage V Scania diesel engine, the truck boasts a massive 2,476Nm of torque, providing excellent hill-climbing capabilities. This drives through an electronically controlled ZF automatic transmission, offering eight forward speeds and four revers options. Equipped with a retarder and a lock-up facility in all gears, the transmission offers economy with power delivery.

A lever to the right of the steering wheel provides the operator with four power modes for the hydraulic transmission retarder. The retarder allows the operator to maintain control when driving downhill, without having to use the service brakes, reducing wear and boosting efficiency. Oil-cooled wet disc brakes boost braking ability when required, and the machine can be held in a stopped position, even when the operator takes their foot off the brake pedal, with auto-hold.

The turning ring is located in front of the chassis articulation point, providing the truck with equal weight distribution front and rear. This allows the operator to use the limited-slip differentials more effectively, even when turning, delivering maximum traction and control. The truck comes with standard control, payload, and overload indication through the rear suspension, preventing overloading and ensuring safe use.

    Operator Comfort, Safety & Productivity

The HA45A 4x4 has one of the largest operator cabs in the ADT sector, with all of the new features that Hyundai is launching this year across the lineup. A new 12” digital display delivers all machine operating data. With easy access, excellent visibility, more storage space and upgraded HVAC and sound systems, the Hyundai cab delivers the optimum all-day working environment that operators require.

The 25.7m3 dump body is designed for maximum load retention. With body heating and additional wear plates available, the truck has a gradient meter with body flip-over protection and a Body Over Centre of Gravity function to ensure stable tipping. Back-up indication and a review view camera are standard.

For mine and quarry customers, or civil engineering businesses with longer hauls on stable ground conditions, the HA45A 4x4 offers the combined benefits of an ADT and a rigid dump truck. Capable of working in all weather conditions, the truck delivers an alternative hauling solution that can boost productivity for the right operating conditions.
